Missions

The exponential increase in the complexity of data (volume, variety, speed of generation and access, etc) requires both technological tools and customized user support to successfully meet future scientific challenges. These data can come from large scientific instruments (LHC, KEKB, …), from experimental instruments hosted in laboratories (spectrometry, imaging, …) or from simulations.

In order to meet these needs, the SCIGNE platform was officially created in 2017 through the labelling by IN2P3. It is located at the Institut Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien (IPHC) under the supervision of the CNRS and the University of Strasbourg. It integrates the computing grid and Cloud Computing services previously hosted at the IPHC, to which specific services for data management have been added.

Our main missions are:

  • To support researchers in the processing and management of scientific data
  • To provide the required infrastructures (computing, storage) to allow the exploitation of research data
  • To contribute to the French Research Infrastructures: French Institute of Bioinformatics (IFB) and France Grilles
  • To contribute to European and worldwide infrastructures: BELLE 2, EOSC, EGI, ELIXIR, WLCG
